The A3 Becomes Audi’s First MHEV And Receives A Styling Revamp
27 May 2020
Audi’s fourth-gen A3 Sportback has enjoyed a massive styling overhaul, with the latest version boasting enhanced comfort and sharper handling, as well as the option of being an MHEV.
New A3 2020 Engine Choices
While the chassis dimensions remain consistent with its predecessor, Audi has allowed an extra few cms of wiggle room for passengers to spread out. The initial launch edition engine model is a 148bhp 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit (TFSI) or 2.0-litre diesel (TDI) version with 114bhp or 148bhp.
Later in the year, Audi will launch a 108bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder TFSI alongside an Audi first (*drum roll*) a second version of the 1.5 TFSI with mild-hybrid technology! The MHEV version of the A3 will harvest the energy normally lost during deceleration and store it in the battery. The changes will improve consumption by 10%, helping Audi to reach environmental targets.
Audi A3 2020 Styling Overhaul
While the new exterior takes a more raw-and-ready aesthetic with stark lines and intimidating LED daytime-running headlights, Audi has decided to minimalise the interior.
The new simplicity is by no means a reflection of ability, of course. With a comprehensive infotainment system and centre console that is heavily touch-sensitive, the interior of the A3 becomes ever sleeker, smarter and user-friendly. In addition, the 2020 A3 technology will offer six user profiles, handwriting recognition, and ever-evolving voice control.
AS well as the usual driver assist functions you would expect of Audi, the A3 will introduce the option of adaptive damper control, progressive steering and four driving modes.
When Will The Audi A3 Launch In 2020?
The latest A3 will become available in the UK market in May, and the starting price expected to be well over the current £23,560. However, the new edition will be worth the premium. Audi promises that the new A3 will dominate its predecessor in all ways, making driving more dynamic, more comfortable and more exciting!
