Which Mercedes Model Is Best?

10 Dec 2021

Mercedes-Benz has always stood for luxurious German engineering, eye-catching design and prestigious technology. The all too famous Mercedes-Benz has been designing and building the world’s leading cars for nearly 130 years, and it has built quite a reputation in the automotive world. The brand’s slogan, “The best or nothing“, says a lot about the excellent cars produced by the German automaker and adored by the business-class, families and sports fans around the world.

Mercedes-Benz has always been recognised as one of the world’s best-selling car brands, combining German-built quality with amazing styling cues and high-end features. But along with these high-end cars normally follows a high-end price tag. Luckily, there are some great leasing deals on the market. With a Mercedes-Benz personal lease, you don’t need to worry about the hassle of selling the car when you no longer want it.

Thanks to a comprehensive lineup of models, there’s a Mercedes-Benz to suit every taste and lifestyle. Read our helpful guide which highlights our favourite models to give you a better idea of which one is the best fit for you.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The Mercedes A-Class stands among the best premium-badged options in the family car class. What was once a boxy, style-absent eyesore is now a sleek, modern hatchback. The A-Class is classy, comfortable, and packed with modern technology. Not to mention the vehicle’s five-star EURO NCAP safety rating which symbolises excellent build quality, making it perfect for families.

Drivers are given the option to choose between a standard manual or Mercedes’ excellent dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which is an automated three-shaft manual transmission consisting of two sub transmissions. Together, they provide a smooth and relaxing drive. With the AMG Line specification and above, the A-Class comes with perforated brake disks, which not only add to the vehicle aesthetically but also give the disks greater performance and a longer life span.

When it comes to handy infotainment technology, the A-Class is right up there with the current BMW 1 Series on feature count. All versions have at least a 7.0inch touchscreen monitor, with a sat-nav, a DAB radio and a couple of USB sockets included. If you opt in to upgrade to the Executive Package, it comes with a 10.3inch screen alongside wireless phone charging and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

The A-Class comes with 3 engine fuel types: Petrol, diesel and hybrid. The petrol option has a powerful 161bhp A200 engine which, in tests, covered the 0-60mph sprint in 7.5sec which is significantly quicker than the Audi A3 35 TFSI and BMW 118i. If it’s diesel you’re after then A180d is your best bet. This engine has progressive power delivery that’s spread evenly through the rev range and can hit 0-60mph in around 10 seconds if you pick the automatic gearbox. Want to go greener? The hybrid vehicle’s A250e is a good choice. It uses the 1.3-litre petrol engine from the A200 with an electric motor that bumps up the power to a useful 215bhp.

Mercedes-Benz G Class

The G-Wagen is Mercedes's boxy, off-road-capable body-on-frame midsize SUV. Originally developed as a military vehicle, the G-Wagen was released in a civilian version back in 1979 and is one of the most stylish SUVs on the market. It is without a doubt an SUV that draws attention with its unique, rugged design and a bold choice of colours. The G Class is instantly recognisable and its unique design makes the G-Class stand in a segment of its own, offering both top-end luxury and one of the best off-road performances of any modern luxury SUV.

Popular among A-lister and domestic drivers alike, the G-Class has quickly become one of the most popular and desirable off-roaders of the 20th century and is now a symbol of luxury.

The inside gives no indication that this is a car designed to climb mountains and ford rivers. The interior comes with an extra-luxurious cabin that’s coated in plush leather, brushed aluminium and an ultra-modern dual-screen infotainment system borrowed from the S-Class. The G-Class’ new upgraded tech system is more intuitive to use than ever and comes with satellite navigation, smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android phones and a high-resolution digital driver’s display instead of conventional analogue dials.

The four-wheel drive SUV has evolved a lot in these last couple of decades but, if possible, has only gotten better. All models, from the entry-level diesel to the high-performance G 63, come with three locking differentials to help stop individual wheels spinning on slippery and uneven surfaces meaning that it can handle motorways as well as rural roads.

The Mercedes G-Class comes with either a six-cylinder 3.0-litre diesel engine in G350d guise or a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine in AMG-tuned G63 models. The G350d produces 286hp which is enough to push this beast of an SUV from 0-62mph in just 7.4 seconds. The G Class is impressively smooth and surprisingly quiet for a diesel engine, too – it emits little more than a distant rumble when you accelerate hard and it ticks along with barely a whisper at 70mph.

Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class

The so-called “lean, toned muscle” of Mercedes, the CLS is a sleek, sporty-looking four-door coupe. The CLS employs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine with standard power that comes in the form of a 369 horsepower 3.0L inline-6 turbocharged engine and can be transferred to all-wheel drive.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS makes a memorable entrance wherever it goes with its iconic body mixed with four-door convenience. All throughout the car, you find specs of luxury. In the cabin, you’ll find yourself surrounded by luxurious leather seating surfaces and handcrafted wood trim inside the cabin of the CLS.

The CLS also comes with automatic emergency braking (AEB), traffic sign recognition and lane assist as standard. If you are after the handy blind-spot monitoring then we recommend upgrading to the Driving Assistance Plus package. The CLS also features Car-to-X Communication with advanced stereo cameras and radar sensors to improve safety. All versions use the base 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-four engine. All AMG CLAs are all-wheel-drive, but the 45 can be equipped with "drift mode" that turns off the front axle's power.

Lease A Mercedes With cars2buy

Also called PCH (Personal Contract Hire), leasing is essentially a very long rental. You pay an initial rental fee and a series of monthly payments before giving your car back at the end of your lease.

There are many advantages to leasing. Whether you’re wanting to bring down your monthly payments, need a car that is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty period or you just like the idea of having a new car every few years. If you have dreamed of owning your own luxury Mercedes car but have been put off by the famously high prices, then a Mercedes lease deal could be an ideal way to get behind the wheel. Lease payments are generally lower than loan repayments on new cars, of course, you won’t own the car at the end of the lease, but you have the advantage of handing the car back at the end of the term and arranging a lease on another brand new car, without any of the hassles of selling or part-exchanging.
